"O Tincanbaum" or "Feed the World"

At Olympian City you can view another unusual Christmas display, structures made out of tinned food and drinks. It's great that all cans used in the installations will be donated to local food banks. Members of the public can go and vote for their favourite work and donate cans from their own pantries.

This Christmas tree stands 18 feet tall and is made with more than 2,000 cans of soft drinks.

This piggy bank uses 4483 tins of food.

Around 2200 tins make up this Santa Claus.

This angel uses 3500 tins.

Exactly 2985 tins form this bowl of soup.

I think the display is a clever way to merge a Christmas theme with charity. Pigs and soup do not necessarily come to mind when I think of Christmas, but that's Hong Kong for you! So which design is your favourite?

Kindergarten Christmas

Yesterday I slipped out of my class and over to the kindergarten to watch Tirzah perform the play "The Legend of the Candy Cane". She was one of the narrators and remembered all her lines. I was so proud of her!

After the play, Tirzah's class had a little Christmas party in the classroom.

The students decorated gingerbread men.

Then they sang in Mandarin, played a few games, and gave out presents to each other and the teacher.

 

We loved all the fun and games at the party. It's even more wonderful that Tirzah is attending a school that teaches the real meaning of Christmas. Happy birthday, Jesus!

Have yourself a Lego little Christmas

Times Square in Causeway Bay has a special Lego-themed Christmas display this year. Our children really enjoyed looking at all the decorations last weekend.
