On Monday night we braved the 6 degree weather to head to Shatin Park for a family-type carnival at which to celebrate the New Year.
At the park's outdoor cinema the children enjoyed watching some Pixar animated shorts ("Luxo Jr", "Red's Dream", "Geri's Game", "La Luna", "Day and Night") and "Monsters, Inc".
I opted instead to walk around the park and watch some performances on the main stage such as wheelchair dancing...
Rope skipping...
African drums...
and Cantonese opera.
After the movie had finished, we saw the tail end of a parade.
This was a wooden tree on which people hung their "dreams" for 2013.
We met some interesting characters.
I am always impressed with the balloon creations we see here in Hong Kong!
We snapped a few last photos...
...then we took a family vote about sticking out the chilly weather versus going home to ring in the New Year with hot chocolate and marshmallows. Guess which option won?
Jemilla informed Craig and me that we were supposed to kiss at midnight. "Everyone has to have someone to kiss for New Year!" she said, so we obliged.
Happy New Year!
Love the memories of New Years Eve.
