Hanging of the Greens

On the weekend, our church held a ceremony to decorate the hall with greenery traditionally associated with everlasting life in preparation for the coming Christmas season. The service centred around children, and ours were very happy to get involved. For instance, they each got to hang a Chrismon ornament on the church tree. Chrismon ornaments use Christian symbols to convey meaning and help us share our faith. They are always white and gold to represent the purity and glory of God.

Manger (Luke 2:4-7)

Star (John 1:3-5)

Crown (Revelation 15:3-4)

Fish (Matthew 4:19)

Dave (Philippians 4:7)

Triangle/Trinity (John 1:1-2, 14)

Cross (Matthew 1:21)

After the tree was decorated, Pastor Harry asked the children to help him set up the wooden nativity scene.

Christmas is coming!

Thanksgiving #2

The Harvey family attended a second Thanksgiving meal today at an estate not too far from Forest Hill. We really enjoyed the turkey and food, but most of our day was spent ooh-ing and aah-ing over the facilities at "The Beverly Hills".

We suspected we were in for a treat when we weren't allowed to walk to our destination but instead were driven in a golf buggy to the clubhouse.

The Beverly Hills amenities include a heated indoor swimming pool, a resort-style outdoor swimming pool with a spiral water slide, a children's theme park area, a 350 metre indoor go-cart race track, a café, a medical clinic, a pet hotel, a health spa with massage treatment rooms, a private cinema, karaoke rooms, a band practice room, and various gymnasium facilities including indoor and outdoor sports courts. It makes Forest Hill look pretty shabby in comparison!

This is the children's play room, completely free for residents and friends. You can see from the photos that the dads enjoy it as much as the kids!

And this is the playground...

Rabbit? Rabbi?

Imagine having your very own indoor go-cart racing track outside your house! It's every father's son's dream come true!

After our meal and a play, we went to the Turner's house and chatted all afternoon. It was a lovely day, but I need to warn you, Amy, that Craig and Keegan will be back soon to try out the go-carts!
