Breaking news

Our dear little girl has broken her leg!

At church on Sunday, Tirzah slipped on some toys and landed badly on her right side. Immediately after the incident she was unable to put weight on her foot. That afternoon Craig took Tirzah to the doctor who thought she might have strained her knee. To cut a long and extremely harrowing story short, for the past three days we've had numerous consultations at a Medical Practice and local hospital until finally yesterday an x-ray revealed a fracture in her tibia. So for the next six to eight weeks Tirzah will have her leg in a cast.

It's the first broken bone we have experienced as a family. Tirzah has remained her usual cheerful self, willingly taking her pain medication and entertaining patients in the hospital waiting room with her loud rendition of "Baa Baa Black Sheep". Last night, however, she woke up screaming when her cast got stuck under the rail of her bed...poor little girl... If you have the time, please send Tirzah an ecard to encourage her during this period of immobility. She would love that! My email address is reneelharvey@hotmail.com

As a side note, I boasted to someone recently that I hoped to survive our four years in Hong Kong without us ever needing to go to a doctor. Pride goeth...and all that...

  2. Oh Renee, our hearts go out to you. Poor, beautiful Tirzah. She looked so pale in the photo of her after the accident. Praise God that you were finally able to get a proper diagnosis. Tirzah must have been in so much pain.

Is this the type of cast that cannot get wet? 6-8 weeks seems like an awfully long time to have to stay out of the pool/shower/bath for.

We're praying for a good recovery for Tirzah and patience for everyone involved.

    Miss you all.

  3. Thank you so much to Aisha, Brioni, Calista and Delaney for the cards! Tirzah especially liked the "kitty" and the "happy and you know it" ones.

  6. Thats a good photo you got of the Xray dont want to sound all medical but it doesn't look like the break goes through the joint or the growth plate so in a bad situation that is good news. Give Tirzah a cuddle from me it sounds like she has been very brave. Uncle Andy.
