The word "Chatuchak" is enough to send chills down the spines of every shopaphobic male within earshot. Imagine 15,000 stalls selling nearly everything you could ever wish to buy and many things that you would never want to. Armed with water bottles and comfortable shoes, Veronica and I set out to tackle the enormous Bangkok market. I can't say we conquered it, however, because we didn't get through all the sections. It got hotter and more crowded as the day progressed, but we still had a fun time and found some great bargains. Enjoy the pictures!

This makes me wish we would have been able to go during our trip. I see a few things I might have picked up. I wouldn't have wanted to take the kids though, makes Mongkok look tame.
ReplyDeleteSarah, was it the crocodile heads you wanted? LOL
DeleteOh wow! I'm not sure if I went to that same market when I was in Thailand, (many, many years ago), but your photos brought back so many memories. My most powerful memories are the ones of women sitting at their stalls with their babies just lying listlessly on a mat on the ground next to them. The girl on the mat asleep brought that back. I also remember buying food and drinks in those plastic bags - what were they selling in your photo? Thanks for the comprehensive photos - I loved them :)
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! Almost makes me want to go to Thailand... I hope you memorised the faces of all those pickpockets!
ReplyDeleteThe colors are amazing! Putting Thailand on my list of places to go. Maybe a girls only shopping spree???? Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time in Beijing. See you next week. Miss ya!
Love,
