DIY gingerbread houses

Tonight I attended a gingerbread house-making party at Amy's place with nine other women, most of whom live in Tai Po. Amy went to a lot of trouble to arrange everything in an appealing and attractive manner.

After drinks and munchies, we started construction work on our houses. We used the simple IKEA gingerbread house kits and shared all the lollies that we brought. There were moments of great hilarity and despair as we tried to find the best method to enable our architectural structures to withstand our candy decorations.

We had one casualty...

...but the other nine houses look fantastic! (Mine is the fourth one down.)

This was my first time ever making a gingerbread house. The children were thrilled to see it on the kitchen table at home the next morning. Needless to say, it did not survive unscathed for even one day; half the roof has been consumed already. Yum!

Thanks for a fun party, Amy!
