FIVE

Tirzah started her fifth birthday by eating poptarts for breakfast.

I had organised a personal day off work, but as the rest of the family had to leave Tirzah opened all her presents and birthday cards before even getting dressed.

Some gifts included purple gum boots and skirt, DVD, earrings, wooden play food and toaster, and a new Bible.

Today I was able to take Tirzah to her Tuesday playgroup. Even better was the fact that today's session involved the semi-annual toy swap. The kids and I cleaned out some of our toy cupboards last week, so Tirzah and I dragged the three bags of outgrown and unwanted toys to Tai Wai.

All the mothers brought toys to donate, and we took turns looking through the free stuff on offer.

While the mothers "shopped", the children played in the clubhouse, sang songs together, and ate some snacks.

After playgroup, Tirzah and I took the train to Hong Kong Island to meet Craig for lunch.

Tirzah suggested McDonalds for her birthday lunch but was easily persuaded to change her mind to Outback Steakhouse. (Phew!)

I was pleased to finally be able to take a tour of Craig's impressive new school, Island Christian Academy, in Sheung Wan.

After leaving Craig at work, Tirzah and I enjoyed an afternoon of walking around Central's busy streets and shops.

We ended up at Identity Art Gallery to view its current exhibition of children's book illustrations. (More details in a later post, I promise, Amanda!)

Unbeknownst to us, the gallery had organised a special guest storyteller for families who pre-booked the session. Despite the fact that we just walked in off the street, we were kindly invited to join in the fun. Tirzah was even given a juice carton and cupcake. It was such a fantastic birthday activity for us to do together!

When we returned home tonight, we ate burritos for tea at Tirzah's request.

Then we all enjoyed a slice of some ballerina ice-cream cake...

Even the ballerina!

Happy fifth birthday, dear Tirzah. We love you and are so glad that you are part of our family!
