Soon

You may recall me writing about my dear friend Alec Law who went to be with the Lord in January last year. Sadly, another family friend in Dubbo named Glenn Wells is dying of the same type of aggressive cancer.

This morning in our ICS all-faculty devotions we sang a hauntingly beautiful song called "Soon". I thought about Alec and Glenn the whole time we were singing. The lyrics to the song have an element of wistfulness but also quiet confidence in what's to come for those who believe. I love the notion that when we finally see Jesus, our souls "will be satisfied".

I pray that Glenn's family will find comfort from this song today.

Soon and very soon
My King is coming
Robed in righteousness
And crowned with love
When I see Him, I shall be made like Him
Soon and very soon

Soon and very soon
I'll be going to the place He has prepared for me
Then my sin erased, my shame forgotten
Soon and very soon

I will be with the One I love
With unveiled face I'll see Him
There my soul with be satisfied
Soon and very soon

Soon and very soon
See the procession
The angels and the elders round the throne
At His feet I'll lay
My crowns, my worship
Soon and very soon

I will be with the One I love
With unveiled face I'll see Him
There my soul with be satisfied
Soon and very soon

Though I have not seen Him
My heart knows Him well
Jesus Christ the Lamb, the Lord of heaven

I will be with the One I love
With unveiled face I'll see Him
There my soul with be satisfied
Soon and very soon
Soon and very soon
Soon and very soon

  1. Renee, this is a beautiful song, and absolute truth. The good news is that we don't have wait until our lives on Earth are over before we can see and experience Christ the King in full glory in our lives. We who have met Him and know his righteousness have been transformed by His power, and we live in His kingdom today.
