Open Day

We spent most of Saturday at the NIS primary campus for their official School Open Day. Our main purpose for attending was to meet more people in the school community and raise funds for the Parent Association through sales from the barbecue lunch.

First item on the agenda: Jemilla took Tirzah to get a balloon.

Tirzah didn't really like having it tied on her wrist, and by now the balloon is well on its way to Perth.

Keegan enjoyed the opportunity to kick his soccer ball on an open field.

Next it was face-painting time.

Tirzah did some puzzles.

Jemilla liked the craft tent.

This activity required digging in the sand for hidden eggs which could then be exchanged for a prize. (Keegan chose a truck.)

I was curious which book kept Jemilla and her friends engrossed at the book stall for so long. When I got closer, I saw that it was the latest Guinness Book of World Records. The girls were especially fascinated by the man with the longest mustache and the woman with the most tattoos.

Some of the primary students showed off their sporting skills.

The children had to get six stamps from various locations on campus before they could swap the card for some free popcorn.

Mission accomplished.

Keegan's class prepared for their performance.

They did some Chinese songs and poems with lots of actions.

This is the primary choir of which Jemilla is a proud member.

The crowd especially liked this lively song.

After the musical performances, a magician entertained all the children and parents.

From all reports the NIS Open Day was a great success. We look forward to the next one!
